Paint that
outsizes
the room.

Skylar Bahrs paints custom murals by hand — nurseries, kids' rooms, offices, storefronts, and the occasional surfboard. No decals, no projections, no two walls alike.

Clouds & Moon · start to finish

Every mural starts as a chalk line on a bare wall. This one ended as a sky.

About

I work big,
and by hand.

Skylar Bahrs is a mural artist based in the Triangle. She's been painting walls since 2019 — starting with a twenty-foot octopus and never really scaling back.

Most of her work lives in rooms people spend a lot of time in: a nursery ceiling, a kid's bedroom, a lobby that needed something other than beige. She paints animals and landscapes with real weight to them, in color loud enough to hold a whole room.

Every mural is drawn and painted on site, straight onto the wall. If you can describe it, she can sketch it — and if you can't, that's usually where the good ones start.

How a wall gets painted

Typically 2–6 weeks, start to finish

STEP 01

See the wall

A visit or a few photos with measurements. Light, texture, and traffic all change what will work there.

STEP 02

Sketch & quote

A color sketch to scale, plus a flat price covering paint, prep, and days on site. Two rounds of changes included.

STEP 03

Paint it

Walls get primed, the drawing goes up in chalk, then color — usually two to five days, working around your schedule.

STEP 04

Seal & sign

A protective clear coat so it survives kids and cleaning. Then the signature goes in the bottom corner.

Tell me about
your wall.

Room, rough size, and what you have in mind — even if "what you have in mind" is just a color and a feeling. I'll come back with a sketch and a price.
